Glad you liked it. Thanks for the TN. It just happened that I bought 6 bottles, 6 mags and 6 halves of this port at an internet auction (the seller is a wellkown and reliable retailer). I actually do not really need such a lot of one single port, but I just couldn't pass ... I paid USD 55 per 75cl, ...

Not mentioned on the list above: Gould Campbell 1991. I popped my first bottle last week: Powerfull, layers of fruit, velvet tannins. Really exellent and ready to drink now. It seemed to be more forward and gave me much more pleasure to drink than the 1983 Grahams I had recently. This port is the be...

Mr. Ferreira

Thanks for your comprehensive note on Magalhaes. As this port - a name I had never heard before - was offered to me lately, I was particulary interested in your opinion. I was quite sure you knew this one...

I finally made my 2003-purchases. Only some Quinta do Portal and Niepoort, a case of each. Unfortunately Fonseca, Taylors and the like are too expensiv here and out of my reach. And I think Niepoort and Portal aren't really bad ports...

Have you tasted Magalhaes VP 2000, would you recommend it? I read that this port did very well on a Decanter panel tasting recently (got 5 stars).

Here means Switzerland, I quoted the price in USD (around 125 swiss francs), for better understanding. But you are right: these prices are mad and I dont know the reason why.... maybe it's the small market, as port is not so popular here... taxes don't add much...and in Germany and other countries i...

TN request: Gould-Campbell 1991

I've got a case of this VP im my cellar, which I bought at auction 2 years ago. Didn't open the case yet. I can't find any TNs on the web (exept the TNs of Mr. Suckling dating back to 1993/1994...). Did someone taste this port lately? Any thoughts when it will be ready to drink?

Thank you.

I'm curious where the prices will be heading to. If they sell the top 2003 VPs for 80 euros now, how much will the same bottles they cost the in 20+ years? Who will be able to by a mature port then? And why should I pay 80 euros for a Taylors 2003 while I can have a 1977 for 110 euros even here in c...

The top guns like Taylors and Fonseca will be around 100 USD here, so that's too much for me and my wallet. I prefer to stock up with older vintages for the same price or less. Maybe I try to get my hands on some 2003 Quinta do Portal, which I hope will still be reasonably priced.

Chocolate and Port ... a perfect hedonistic pairing!

I think Monique is talking about that very dark, not overly sweet 70%-cacao-Maracaibo-stuff and the like, and not about swiss milk chocolate.
