Defends Ports good name

http://fermentation.typepad.com/fermentation/2008/09/the-theft-of-a.html I love Tom and his blog Fermentation, but as with any site don't always agree with it. This is an example where this board could make a nice difference in another circle of wine drinkers. Tell him why "Port" should be...

Re: Turning 3 years old - A request from Roy

Andy it was a 2003 Quevedo LBV, very nice, from a half bottle. No notes, but I have to say it was very enjoyable and my friends did make it disappear pretty quick! :)

Re: Turning 3 years old - A request from Roy

Just found this thread, and wish to congradulate Roy on the fine site he has built. The irony though is that even though I knew nothing of this annoucement, that week I did open a bottle of Port to celebrate being in the States with some old friends!

Cheers Roy!

João,
I look forward to finding you at the fair. By chance are you thinking you can make it to the wine bloggers conference in August too?
cheers,

Essencia do Vinho

Just a quick note to say that Gabriella and I will be at Essencia do Vinho from Wed-Sunday in Oporto...part of the press it appears our schedule is pretty full so no time for an offline, but it would be fun to say hi to anyone who may be there too, tasting wine and mingling. Let us know if and/or wh...

Cooking with Port

I hate to say this but I have a lot of port open and not enough time to drink it all. After last months tastings and retastings I am left with many half empty bottles of vintage ports, LBV's and Tawny's. Not wanting to waste what were so many wonderful treats, I was wondering if any of you had any g...

Ok, well if you follow Catavino, you will see that Gabriella and I just passed our Sherry Educators Course and are now "official sherry educators". It was a class put on by the DO Jerez, and though heavily biased, and definately a marketing gimick of sorts. I have to say 3 days of heavy st...

travel during december

My wife and I are thinking of taking a vacation this holiday season that does not involve heading back to the states. It will be our first time abroad without family for x-mas and we're thinking of going to Madiera or for a complete cultural switch maybe Instanbul! Anyways we'd be more interested in...

Save the Duero

Well it's table wine made well before it reaches Portugal, but it is Duero wine! I'm talking about the fact that right now there is a debate going on in Spain over a road that is going to bisect some of the Regions greatest vineyards. http://www.savetheduero.com was set up to petition the government...

I had a 20 yr old scotch that was corked with a T-cork. No one believed me untill I opened another and they could try them side by side. Cork, is Cork, is Cork, TCA can taint anything

All good suggestions, but really I never thought of the Dow. I guess the size is a bit ominous, not that I can't find some friends to help it disappear. I might need to do some planning though. Otherwise, I'm starting to think the 87Cavadinha, and the Neipoort is a good call. .375, must be aging pre...

Holiday Ports

Ok so I'm heading home. For those that don't know it's been 2 years since me and my wife left for Spain. Anyways, most of my cellar is back in the states and I can't wait to see how some of my wines are holding up. I already think I know what I'm going to be opening but I thought I'd let some Port G...
