I have not been here in a long time but I am not a lurker or a stalker. Just AWOL a few years. :munch: I have opened some 92 Taylor and some Fonseca recently in honor of my son, Ian , who was born in 1992 as was your Taylor , Roy. Great ports. I still give them 99-100 points.

I do not know if this adage is still true, but when I first bought a climate controlled storage unit , a wardrobe shaped Vinotemp 700 bottle in 1990 , the advice from some wine magazine said get a unit that holds 3x what you think you will need. A late post here but we opened the Taylor 83,( not their best year ever) and again, pleasantly surpised. A nice raspberry torte nose good mouth entry, lots of mild spice and fruit good finish . A solid 90 points.

After 24 hours no TBA . This was one of the good bottles. All heat gone still very smooth.

There are no signs of TCA. There must be a few good bottles out there. More in the decanter so I will try it again tonight. I may try a bottle again soon. I have a lot of it. It has not been a super star of the 83 vinatge and not up to other Taylor vintges like 63, 66, 70 and 77 IMHO.
Parker gives it a 94 but I have never had a bottle I could give a 94 . I have given it a 92 on this board in the past.

Maybe something was up ( wrong) with this bottle, but it was fully mature, nice balance but no sign of decades of improvment. Maybe I will try another bottle soon and have something to compare.

I think it is fully mature . Tannins waning just a bit. It will maintain for proabably decades and be drinkabale but it will not get any better. A long time favorite but not tried in years. Surprised to see I have not posted on it before. Very nice cinnamon spice nose with lots of good fruit. NIce middle and finish. 92 points.

My personal guess is that it is not going to get any better. Not much tannin, seems very mature if not passing its prime. The only reason to age this is if 1988 is a special birth, anniversary year. It just dawned on me that it is an 88 and I gave it 88 points [foilhat.gif]

1992 Smith Woodhouse LBV consistant very nice aging well. I can't agree with the cellar tracker 84 average but rated by just one person. I give it 90 solid points.

Most end up in glass recycling but occasionally I get those wine lamp wicks and lamp oil and turn them into oil lamps whcih I light for dinner parties.

I am working on a major work project but once I get it done, I will try to get a response from St. John the Divine Catehdral in New York, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and the National Cathedral in D.C. to see what their annual budgets are for port.
