Interesting how many are drinking LBVs. Just to jump on the LBV bandwagon, we have had the Graham 2000 LBV, the Ramos Pinto 2000 LBV, Noval 20000 LBV and now Gould Campbell LBV in the last few weeks.

THanks for the info Alex. I think the Silval is designed to be drank earlier, so was wondering if 10 years is ideal. Have read some that toward 15 years may be better.

I have a couple bottles of each in my cellar and was wondering if anyone had tasting notes on these. Anyone have drinking window suggestions?

I was referring to style and definately not substance. In other words, some houses are sweeter, some dryer, some simple others complex, some commonly jammy fruit others subtle, etc. I understand that one cannot compare a LBV with a vintage port directly. But to try to find my preferences between the...

Does an LBV represent the overall style of a producer

With the more recent posts concerning LBV, I was curious if the different LBVs represent the overall style of that particular producer.

In other words, Do you feel that the LBV can educate a novice vintage port drinker to know what to expect as an overall style in their vintage ports?

there are other threads that I responded to saying the same effect. I just traveled out to Chicago again last week and this time I was prepared with the TSA printout saying anything under 24% alcohol doesn't get limited by the rules. The airline said, "That is fine, but our airline doesn't allo...

Alex, I have looked into making my own port wine for quite some time. I've come to the conclusion based on multiple US wineries that make "port" that it would be near impossible for me to make a clone on my own. I'm aware of a few wineries in california that have grown portugese vines and ...

Uncle Tom, No disrespect, but... I certainly wouldn't have any issue if the sharing of info was in the public domain and any exclusives offers, specials, early notices were under the pay site, but for such a small investment for all the free services FTLOP provides I'm not sure why anyone is having ...

I subscribed on one the first days that the site opened up, Roy your generosity and wealth of information has been a fantastic resource for me. Stuart, your input that can't be seen real time (many don't realize what a time monster a website can be) has created what is now the FTLOP site. I can't be...

finally got TSA on the phone, I asked if there are any wine restrictions - he immediately responded that since august there is a maximum of 5 liters per ticketed passenger. I asked him if there are two passengers can the total exceed 5 L but under 10L be in one box - he said that they cannot. If I'm...

as soon as they heard wine, they immediately said they will need to open up the box to look. I think maybe I was just chosen to be the victim for the day.

update I flew yesturday out of O'hare Chicago and the check-in would not allow me to check in the wine that was in a shipper approved styro box. They said you can no longer take that quantity. I had the TSA supervisor come over and he said that as of January 1, 2007 one passenger may only carry up t...
