Re: Please help me decide

Happy Anniversary!! Please let us know how the dinner was at the Herbfarm, we'd love to live vicariously through your splurge! I'll have to try to find that tawny for my 10th anniversary this September.

Re: FTLOP Website Tweak and member's "Contest"

Looking ahead to the future, some integration of video with FTLOP. Whether it is clips of travels in Portugal, video tasting notes, video clips from simple webcams of the port industry guests or links to information on Youtube (nice video there from History Channel I stumbled on last night: http://w...

Re: 2005 Graham's Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port

Roy,

The 2005 vintage is my second child's birthyear. Now that it has been available for awhile, what is your recommendation for different bottles to seek to store for my child?

Re: 375ml vs. 750ml in Vintage Port

I froze mine in a plastic bottle as I didn't want the glass to break. I'll never freeze port again, just tried it out on a LBV. Moses, It most likely won't freeze in the car - I wouldn't worry. At least you'll be able to keep your hands off it at the party, since you'll have to wait for it to warm u...

Re: 375ml vs. 750ml in Vintage Port

I have used a small grolsh style beer bottle several times filled up to the top and when closed 100% of the air is out. Seems to work fairly well.

I also have heard about freezing the small bottle. Alas, I didn't have the patience to let frozen 375s thaw out.

Hurry, hurry. I've ordered from them in the past and had a great experience. They have about 8 cases left as of 12:30pm MST. Also, reasonable shipping. Thanks, Roy

I recently have discovered that caramel is added to many (if not most) cognac and armagnac.

It seems to give a distinct woodyness sort of like mahogany. Not sure if it contributes any level of RS. Since I'm mostly a ruby drinker I haven't noticed if tawnys carry this characteristic.

Lucky me, my wife wasn't into port when I started my journey in 2003, but now she has a glass at least 4 nights a week with me! She is also spot on with bouquet and descriptions. One day I might get her to participate or hopefully go on the wine trip with me.

TNR or Info on 2005 Prazo de Roriz Douro Red

This wine showed up at a local liquor store, anyone have any info on it or can make a suggestion if I should by it and give it a whirl? About $20.
