Seems like Small Potatoes to fake a $150 bottle. Understand what you are saying, Glenn, but an easy roll of the dice.

Portuguese Style Tawnies

I opened a 1992 Quevedo Colheita and had no nuttiness to it. Andy said because it was made in the "Portuguese Style". So got me wondering, how exactly does a wine maker make this style. Is it the type of wood? Are we adding nuts to the barrels to get nuttiness (silly---but you get where I ...

Re: What have you opened this week?

1992 Quevedo Colheita, bottled 2019. Acquired via a FTLOP buying op. I have a few of these but did not open one until Friday night. Struck by the lack of nuttiness usually associated with tawnies about this age. Citrus fruits (various oranges mostly). Really lovely in a unique way. Half the bottle i...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Taylor Fladgate 40 Year Old, bottled in 2006. Visiting some friends and they had this bottle. Popped and poured after an awesome dinner. The first sips were all about walnuts and a touch of all-spice. An hour later, a little walnut remained but vanilla and a thin butterscotch came forward. Lovely co...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Enólogo 20-Year-Old Tawny Port - Pop and Pour.

Wow! Uncorking was akin to I Dream of Jeanie...immediate wafts of toffee and hazelnuts that filled the space. Lovely orange amber color, but dense. The whole experience was saturated but never unbalanced. 94 Points, yeah--it's that good.

Graham's 20
2018 Dows LBV

Grahams is fine, rather an acidic bite on the end. Not my fav 20, but is widely available here and enjoyable.

Half the Dow bottle was used to make a Port reduction sauce for a couple pork loins. Been a long while since I've had one, jammy and dry.
