Re: Port/Madeira auction

The second half of Skinner's auction just went live, it's very port and Madeira heavy (and some good bourbon I saw in there as well). They asked me to let them put most of my stuff at this auction and I didn't see any reason to say no. Hope all are well and happy holidays! https://live.skinnerinc.co...

Skinner doesn't ship but they do allow third-party shipping.

Port/Madeira auction

Hi all--for anyone interested, I'm selling much of my Port and Madeira collection through Skinner Auctioneers next month. While they are a smaller operation to be sure (I've generally purchased from HDH,Christie's, Zachy's, as I am sure most of you have), they are local to me so I don't have to deal...

Re: New England Madeira Offline: New York - Connecticut - Massachusetts

Hi--I'm working 12-10 on June 16th but have two feelers out to get that day covered; should hear back in the next day or two. If I can get it covered I will happily make the trip down to CT from Boston.

Re: NEXT BUYING OP

I usually have things shipped to family in Connecticut. Having said that, there was a lawsuit brought to the State supreme court which basically legalized shipping wine to Massachusetts from all states. Some wineries, when I tell them this, are surprised (it's been a couple of years now), and I thin...

Re: Wine and Port sale until June 15th

Well, I've only bought from them twice--once in 2008 and once in 2009. The process was a bit sluggish and I had to request photos of the actual bottles with detail, but they did provide the photos and the bottles I got were the ones photorapher, and the ones opened have this far been fine (I bought ...

Wine and Port sale until June 15th

I just got an email that wineconsigners.com is adding an extra 15% off all of their wine and port until June 15th. They've got a wide variety of port of various ages available. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Re: Any experience with these? Bought at auction.

HI all--so sorry for extending the invitation and then not following up...Lots going on over the past month and a half and I've not been on the site. Doing some local moving around, tending to one of my dogs who had a serious injury, holidays, a pre-scheduled trip out of state, blah blah blah. That ...

I live in Boston, and would love to share the opening of these with people who would appreciate them (and educate me as well!)

Any experience with these? Bought at auction.

Hi all--I bought some older Madeira at the most recent Acker auction in Chicago, still waiting for shipment but I wondered if anyone had any tasting experience with any of these. I got a bit caught up in the heat of the moment and went way over my personal limit, but what's done is done... 1 bottle ...

Re: 5 bottles of 1879 Malmsey Madeira FOR SALE

I agree--price is a little too much right now, especially considering I just went idiotically hog wild on a Skinner Auction last week...sigh.

Any info on this madeira?

I bought a bottle of madeira in an online Skinner auction last night, but details were scanty. I'll probably go pick it up in a week or so, but it was listed as "Borges 1945 Madeira". Anyone know anything about it, or have tasted it? The only 1945 Borges I could find listed online (in some...

With some of the new folks here coming from your Region of the USA and close proximity to many of our E. coast Canadian friends, you really should consider this in your spare time, Moses. [cheers.gif] I wish I had time to organize more Port tastings in my own area, there are so many Port lovers her...

Re: any info on this 1856 Leacock?

Thanks for the comments. I bought the bottle in an auction held by Edward Roberts Int'l based in Chicago. I should be getting the bottle in my hot little hands by Friday, so I'm interested to get a look at the back as well.

any info on this 1856 Leacock?

November2009oldMadeiras.jpg Hi all. Longtime reader, mainly of the Port forums. I have recently started branching out into learning about Madeira, just as I *finally* started to get a handle on Port. Anyways, Im awaiting shipment of a bottle of Leacock 1856 Bual (Boal), and I have yet to locate any...
