2000 Taylor Fladgate LBV Port
I have never posted a TN before and thought I would do so before anyone else just so that I am not influenced by more knowledgeable palates. TN: On opening the bottle We (ie my wife and I) smelt caramelised sugar and sweet plums a good start. I decanted the bottle and after 20 mins poured a measure....

Re: #18 What is your favorite vintage of Quinta do Vesuvio VP
Well you've jumped the gun on this one Roy, I let you know after the 30th October once I've tasted every vintage at BBR . Up until now I have only had the 95.

Re: Complete Vesuvio Vertical at Berrys'
Hiya All, I going on my yearly trip to the big smoke; great timing by BBR so I have my invite and looking forward to it. If anyone wants to go on after for some food and more port (I am assuming our samples will be quite small and if not all the better) I would be more than happy to do so.

An impulse buy!
I purchased a bottle of Martinez Directors port today and it says on the bottle it is a blend of several (unspecified) vintages, has been aged in wood for nearly fifty years and it was bottled in 1970. I have read about a Directors 20yr old Tawny but never heard of this one. Has anyone got any more ...

I love to buy and hold. I do get great pleasure from storing wine and then opening and tasting them. If you have the money, decent storage and the patience, cellaring has got to be a must so you can ensure their provenance. The earlier you get them the sooner you can ensure they will have excellent ...

Thank you Roy, my favourite producer and I have had many VP's and SQVP's. For me, a lover of older port ,it has to be either the 1960 or the 1970. I had several bottles of the 60 which wowed me but I reckon I have to plump for the 1970. Just delicious, with a little way to go(IMHO) but already showi...

Hi Ted your spread of vintages looks very similar to me especially earlier this year although I seem to have majored in the 94's not the 2000's. I had a good look at what I wanted to drink and came to the conclusion that it was older bottles. I then had to decide do I want to purchase; lots of odd b...

A post that has brought back great memories for me. The only leakers I can recall having were three Quinta do Noval 1985's and I did lick the seepage and it was good. But the memory this brings back to me was a tour of the Gonzales Byass bodega in Herez and the old solera barrels that had seepage th...
