Feb 3rd is good for me and Julie! Count us in. Now I'll just have to find a bottle to bring, which is always a fun thing to do :)

I should be at the Montreal salon, if I can get my hands on my tickets ... I must get them before noon in Montreal wednesday but might not be able to leave Sherbrooke in time. I have media tickets, granting access to the Salon from 2h30 PM. Maybe we can all get together somewhere and walk the salon ...

Alcohol % in port after decanting

Hey all, I was discussing some decanting methods with some friends and we bumped into a question noone could answer. When decanting a port in an open decanter (no cap), is there a substential amount of alcohol that evaporates ? I've seem some people post some TN's after 72 hours of decanting and I'm...

Andy: I look forward to read your next impressions on that Noval. Fred: Yes there is a SAQ Depot, very close to where I live actually! I've been on the lookout for that Ramos Pinto 10 yr since I saw some very good comments on this forum, but it has not been available at the Depot yet. Maybe I'll jus...

Andy, you'd recommend the Noval 10yr very much?

I've been disappointed by my last 10yr tawny, a Graham's, after having tasted a Graham 20yr. Seemed to me like apple and orange, but at ~56$ CAD for the 20 yr I find it is quite a lot of money for me.

'Old' LBVs in circulation

Hey guys, I saw quite a few TN's about some quite 'old' LBVs and that raised a ? in my mind. Correct me if I'm wrong, but LBV's are left in casks for 6-7 years before they are bottled, so a 1992 LBV (such as the Smith Woodhouse discussed in the Port forum) would've matured for ~ 6-7 years in bottles...

Andy, You say : Unless there is a white paint splash on the bottle I have a few VP's here (my first ones), about half of them have that particular white spash, the other half do not. Right now I have all of them facing their label "up". Are you saying that the splashes should be "up&q...

What a surprising topic for this forum! :) Regarding the cause of the tower collapses, the video states that there are NO precedent in history of a multi-stories building collapsing because of a fire. Firefighters also describe how the lobby looked like before the first collapse : all the windows we...

Buying my first port decanter

Hey all, I bought an unfiltered LBV (Quinta do Crasto 97) which I guess I'll need to decant before drinking. Funny thing, it's the first time I need a decanter and I don't have one. Is there anything special one should look for when buying a port decanter ? Can a whine carafe do the job (if it is ev...

First Colheita recommandation - Offley 1980 ?

Hi all, First post here, directly from Sherbrooke (Canada). I've been reading FTLOP forums / newsletters for almost a week now, what a great place to learn about port, congratulations! I saw this bottle on sale at my SAQ outlet : Offley Baron de Forrester tawny colheita 1980 (bottled in 2003) @ ~45$...
