Re: Noval Nacional 1982

The 1982 Nacional tends to be one of the weaker Nacionals. Given the choice, there are quite a few other Nacional vintages that might provide more joy on the palate.

Re: What is your longest complete vertical?

I just checked my cellar software and my longest complete vertical is of Noval Nacional. This vertical spans the period from 1960 to present. Apparently I also have an almost complete vertical of Taylor from 1955 to present, but there are a couple of holes that need to be filled. Marc, I have some ...

Re: What is your longest complete vertical?

To be honest, I was not looking towards building a Noval Nacional vertical but a few months ago I was looking at my cellar software and I noticed that I was just 4 bottles short of a vertical. I was missing the 1962, 1964, 1980 & the 1999. A couple of days after this a 1962 became available and ...

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area -- 2023 version

I’m still in and I am looking forward to it! Something casual on Friday and a more formal tasing on Saturday would work for me. Bottles can be decided later on once we determine the format for each evening.

Re: Offline in Los Angeles Area -- 2023 version

Count me in! Depending on the what is needed, I could bring an older tawny to help fill out the lineup for one of the nights and possibly a nice VP for the other night.

Re: What have you opened this week?

Ramos-Pinto 30 year old. I found this to be a quite nice 30 year old. I've had this wine quite a few times, but this particular bottle was exceptionally smooth and the secondary notes just sang!

Re: Oddest Port in your cellar

I'd say that the oddest port in my cellar would bae a bottle of 1955 Brizard Roma. Other oddballs would include some bottles of Feuerheerd Commadador, a Ramos-Pinto White Colheita and some Nicolau de Almeida from the mid-1800's.

Re: What is your longest complete vertical?

At this point my longest vertical is of Taylor, from 1900 to 2007 (almost..I'm still looking for 1940 & 1942!) I also have a complete vertical of Grahams from 1955-2007, as well as a Warres vertical from 1958-2007. Just curious, but do you (or you, Moses) have the '57 and '58? Like I said above...

Re: Vintages for Niepoort's Garrafeira

There is a 1938 Niepoort Garrafeira - no doubt about it. I haven't had the opportunity to sample it, but I have seen several bottles of it over the last couple of years.
