2000 Vintage Sandeman

decanted and enjoyed over three or four hours, almost no sediment came out with the juice, but washing the bottle out for a double decant produced a ton, so it was quite caked at the bottom. Still blood red with just a touch of orange in the rim, strawberry on the nose but also a touch hot. smooth a...

Re: Ah So bottle opener

thanks gents, I always assumed by reading reviews that it did very little damage, it does have to grip to something though, when I have used it on old corks it has done very well indeed to get them out at least somewhat whole. I guess I need to practice piercing it down the sides of the cork with le...

Ah So bottle opener

Re: Premier Cru warning

Most of my 2011 ports are all there and shipping, including the 4 Dow I ordered. they are supposed to ship next week. (ten bottles in all) Mine are still not available. Let me know if you actually get those, please. Eric I did get my shipment of 10 bottles they said were in including the Dow. Inter...

1985 Souza Vintage Port

Big improvement over last bottle. Texture was silky with great fruit up front. Great viscosity. Slight alcohol burn in the middle tapering to a sugary sweet long finish. 91 maybe 92...

Most of my 2011 ports are all there and shipping, including the 4 Dow I ordered. they are supposed to ship next week. (ten bottles in all) Unfortunately the two I really want are probably not going to show up at all, if this plays out how many people expect and they go under. Nacionals! FFS. [beg.gi...

1985 Souza Vintage Port

A nice standard port. Nothing bad, nothing wow. Very difficult to decant through my fine SS screen, the fines are incredibly fine! but after that was done, it was a worthy dessert to a wonderful dinner.

Re: Wine Rack for 375ml/Half Bottles

I use one of my bins usually but if it needs to be racked cause of no more room what I do is I save the round / square boxes / cartons from scotch purchases, put it in the rack and put the split in it. the cartons usually fit great where a wine bottle would go and you have it laying in there for ya ...

Re: March Madness: The next Port Buying Op - details.

Good news. Just curious, I had been getting shipments of all sorts of stuff (except waiting on Premier Cru of course.....) and it just popped in my head that I ordered something else from somewhere! [cheers.gif]

Re: March Madness: The next Port Buying Op - details.

thanks Roy, if the cut off was last night, then I would of been out of luck anyways and I think it likely unfair for me to participate given others ordered when they were supposed to. I will try to download later tomorrow though to check it out.

Cheers [cheers.gif]

Re: Current Subscriber's Buying Op

I am happily getting a lot of my birth year at a great price! 6 full and 6 splits of 1974. So glad to have it.
Last time went well and I expect no changes this time around.

1997 Souza VP

from buying opportunity in December 2013. Capsule was beat to heck but the cork underneath in perfect condition. Color deep deep purple, red to very faint pink rim showing youth, on pop and pour, lots of formaldehyde in the nose, needs some breathing room. 1/2 hr in starting to settle, still very me...
