Whitwhams was also the merchant who was found out to be in counterfeit business, too, some years ago. Fake wines, that is.

Funny,

I just tasted the range of Rare Wine Co. Madeiras and was very underwhelmed. They were all around 45.00 US.

No port last weekend, this weekend going to a resort in New Hampshire that only has Taylor 10 year old tawny. I guess I'll survive.

Hopefully it was a dummy bottle, just to tantalize.

Jason,

I am total agreement with you on the Crasto LBV. Also, I just had the Churchills White port on Sunday. Very nice. I like the Fonseca Scirocco (sp?) as well. The Ferreira White is what I drink most of though.

Fred,

I have two favorite experiences with vintage port. One was with Roy in Bellvue, and one was in Nashville. Both with vintages going back to the 19th century. I will have to dig out my notes. Old vintages of Croft, Niepoort, Taylor, Fonseca, Nacional, etc.

Without really thinking much about this question, my personal favorite has to be the 1970 Nacional. There are many more, but this one off the top of my head truly stands out. I guess the '63 as well.

Roy,

Very interesting as I have a case of the Vintage 1999. I don't think I have tasted it yet, I will have to look. The LBV is very good, I know. Do you have any notes on the '99 vintage?
