For The Love Of Port

Spent last week in the Berkshires, well actually Copake, NY. We brought a 2000 Fonseca and 1985 Dow. Both special, but Dow was more to my liking. After a group chat the other night on 2000's, I opened a 2000 Smith Woodhouse which is a pop and pour rock star. I think we'll finish it tonight.

What's the most recent case of port to use straw?

The most recent I saw was '70 Niepoort.

'77 Grahams. A bit on the light colored side and kind of simple. Still enjoyable though

1999 Ferreira LBV. A monumental LBV. A real powerhouse of port with a lot of depth and finesse.

More powerful than I would normally think of a Ferreira port. Really terrific stuff

I broke an IDVP port glass yesterday. Lightly touched against something and cracked. We must've broken at least 20 of them over the years.

I'd remove the multi-branded bottle and show a "Port" as a stencil on bottle.

Not a fan of wines in the super heavy bottle. To me it's the first sign of "smoke and mirrors".

I like that Taylor is putting the effort into sustainability and forward thinking of the most elemental part of port wine beyond the wine itself.

2011 Warre LBV. Terrific LBV with a ton of life in it. Good VP replacement without breaking the bank.

Wife bought a 6 pack of '11 Warre LBV and a case of '77 Grahams.

1994 Vesuvio. Pop and pour glass was youthful. Great nose. Told the wife to go easy on it! Hoping to get more into it tonight and tomorrow.
