Re: What have you opened this week?

It's been a Port kind of holiday. I have opened 3 bottles of 1997 Niepoort, 1 bottle of 1976 Krohn Colheita and 1 bottle of 1900 Krohn Reserva. Tonight's star is a 1945 bottle of Croft which was bottled in 1947. [yahoo.gif]

Re: March Madness: The next Port Buying Op - details.

I just received confirmation of my order: 4 x 30 Year 3 x 40 Year 4 x 60 Year 1 x 100 Year I would have liked to have ordered more, however, house building commitments are keeping me tempered. I cannot wait for our home to finish construction so I can take better advantage of these opPORTunities. Ma...

Re: What have you opened this week?

1997 Niepoort -- too much VA to rate. Even after extended decant time (two+ days), the VA remained and the port was undrinkable. It was a shame since this is the second bottle of '97 in the past ten days with this condition. Let's hope the remaining 4 bottles are not marred by this problem.

Re: 1985 Gould Campbell Vintage Port

Glenn:

I had a similar experience with the first 2 bottles of "85 GC which I purchased from WTSO. I hope it does not hold true for the remaining bottles I purchased. [shrug.gif]

Re: Weekday Ports

Roy, I do think the "97 Noval is softening although I am quite certain our palate/tolerances are very different. On a pop and pour it is still rather tannic but with 5-6 hours of decant and the next day, I find the Noval very enjoyable

2007 Quinta do Noval

Purchased half of a case and enjoyed this port so much that we are going back to buy more tomorrow. Our 24 year old loved this port and we had to fight over the last couple of pourings. Very jammy aroma and slight acidity. I also, on initial opening and tasting, smelled a hint of bubble gum which wa...

Re: What Madeira(s) Have You Purchased Recently?

Broadbent 10 yo Malmsey. Actually my first Madieira and it was quite enjoyable. My wife asked for God's intervention since my love of port is almost more than she can handle. [shok.gif]

Re: Approachability of Vintage Ports

I think this may help someone who enjoys or wants to drink port now, although some of the cost of VP is high enough that it may keep some consumers away. I do join with Moses in questioning whether these changes in port making will affect the cellaring potential of the port. Will, for example, VP ma...

Re: Will the plummeting Euro effect Port pricing?

Even though the Euro is dropping, and in my opinion will continue the slide, I am not convinced that that event will depress port prices. Port, and especially vintage port, is becoming more and more in demand and that increased demand alone may more than offset any currency influence. I may change m...
