For The Love Of Port

Of vintages I've had several times, the 1963; but I once had the 55 which blew me away.

A splash in soups are excellent as well.

A real loss and tragic given his relatively young age. His 1998's were (and still are) sublime.

I've one bottle left of the "Gettysburg" solera. It's some pretty good stuff but I may wait awhile before I open it; especially since it's my last one.

I think Madeira is a love it or hate it thing. Some people can't get over the VA. Still those that get it, absolutely love it. i guess getting as many people as possible aquainted with the good stuff would be the answer.

I guess it all comes down to balance and what the shipper is trying to do. Where's the fun if all Port tasted alike!

I sort of fall into the "collector" mentality when I'm down to the last bottle of a lot that I'm particularly fond off. I"m happy to drink them up when there's others left, but it's hard to give up the last one.

There is debate whether tawnys will age in bottle. I believe they do, but the question is whether they'll improve. This would be over several years, however, so I agree a few years wait won't make too much difference.
