Re: service order for a vertical of VP
Sounds fun I did a Fonseca vertical in 2018 with these vintages: 1963, 1966, 1970, 1977, 1980, 1983, 1985, 1992, 1994 & 1997. Some really tasty wines. My personal favorites were the 77' & 70'. Followed closely by the 66', 92 and 85' respectfully. But really high grades all around. Only the 8...

60 anos branco Sao Leonardo. My last bottle shared with friends on my birthday. Not as precise as previously tasted bottles from the same bottling year. But still stellar in all regards.

Re: Richard Mayson on Graham's The Stone Terraces
True. Solely based on "QPR" there's no question that the Quevedo is the winner. Do any US online merchants sell 2011 Quevedo? My Wine-Searcher Pro says only 5 merchants have the 2011 Quevedo VP and those er either German, Spanish or Portuguese. No US listings currently. I my my 2 bottles ...

Don't sleep on the Smith Woodhouse 1980. That is very good also. I would actually have it a bit above the Gould Campbell.

(One bottle each, all are 750ml).
The Dow's 97 is dang tasty already. Having trouble keeping my hands of the 4-5 that I own.

Re: Richard Mayson on Graham's The Stone Terraces
Overall 2021 is quite consistent. The GST was one I liked a lot. For my palate, it just didn't show the sheer overall pleasure as the 2015 or 2011, and in fact, for me ... not by a long shot. So you prefer the GST 2011 and 2015 over the 2016 and 2017? I thought the 2021 GST price wise was getting o...

Re: Noval Nacional 1982
I have tried it 4-5 years ago and it was not a very memorable bottle. I would look else where to send my money and don't let the "Nacional" part fool you. The 1980's were not kind to Quinta do Noval. In 1981 their storage in Vila Nova de Gaia went up in flames along with 350.000 liters of ...

A trio of 2007 colheitas as part of a small tasting. 2007 Dalva Colheita 2007 Niepoort Colheita 2007 Dow's Colheita The Dalva was in the best state for current drinking with a nice balance of acid and sweetness. The Niepoort has the best outlook though with a bold and majorly acidic backbone. Needs ...

Re: 2021 Vintage Port declaration
I don't know anything about good Riesling, but I'd like to. Is it pop n pour or should one look for 2021s and save them for X many years? If you buy top notch dry riesling like a Grosses Gewächs aka GG (German for Grand Cru) you should probably sit on it for 3-4 years before opening the first one. ...

Re: 2021 Vintage Port declaration
No full blown VP's but Churchill's Quinta da Gricha and Quinta da Romaneira were also declared! Thanks for the headsup. I consider Romaenira full blown as the likes of Quinta do Noval and Quinta do Vesuvio. My son who was born in 2018 has a case of Romaneira and Vesuvio as it happens [cheers.gif] C...

Re: 2021 Vintage Port declaration
I am starting to figure out what to buy for my daughter as it seems to be slim pickings from 2021. Are there any more producers with a 2021 VP not on this list? I do prefer full blown VP's. Added Quevedo Quinta de São Luiz from Kopke (12,133 bottles, 600 magnums) Quinta do Arnozelo from Burmester (8...

Re: What have you opened this week?
A friend served a white port blind to finish a tasting this weekend. It happened to be a 2003 Kopke White Colheita. Slight bit of dark sediment spots in it and quite developed in color towards orange. Tasty though. But it was clear that it had been stored non cooled for the last 5-6 years. The bottl...

Re: What have you opened this week?
But if the year of bottling the 10 year old is 2017 its still old. Meh - a youngster! 10yr and 20yr TWIOA age really well - I won't touch one with less than 10yrs in bottle. TWOIA age/mature in the bottle? I was under the impression that they don't and it's recommended to consume rather early (few ...
