Re: The next great subscriber's buying opPORTunity.

Has there been any update on shipping from D'ouro Vino? Has anyone actually set up shipping or are the wines still not here?
I was hoping have my order shipped before it got too hot..but it looks like I'm out of luck.

Re: Favorite Recent Fonseca

I'm in for a Fonseca tasting (my favorite Port house) however it would be nice to do it right and the older bottles are hard to come by. I think the oldest bottle I have is from 1912 but we really should go back to 1896! ...unfortunately I've never seen one for sale and the 1927 is virtually impossi...

Re: Favorite Recent Fonseca

'85 is the best by far, but I'd rather drink the 1970 (one of my all time favorites) and wait on the 1985. The '85 Fonseca may turn out to be better than the 1948!

Re: buying Warre's 1963

I've been lucky that every '63 Warre I've purchased has been very good from multiple sources over the years. I have a few cases where the bottles are packed in straw and they are excellent examples.

Smith Woodhouse and Niepoort availability

I've noticed that I have some serious gaps in my collection of a few Port houses, especially Smith Woodhouse and Niepoort. My collection of Smith Woodhouse consists of: 1. 1966 2. 1977 and my collection of Niepoort consists of: 1. 1900 Colheita 2. 1937 Colheita 3. 1940 Garrafeira 4. 1970 (vintage) 5...

Re: Cigars and port

I'm with Moses ..there's nothing better than a cigar with Madeira or Champagne! If I want to taste the Port that I'm drinking I drink first and light the cigar later, then drink whats left of the Port before switching to a Tawny or Maderia. I was drinking a '63 Graham the other day and lit a Partaga...

Easily the 1795 Barbieto Terrantez courtesy of Eric! Only the second time I've had this but it was a powerhouse both times.

The two cases of 1985 Croft I used to own, either this Port is just not good or my two cases happened to not be good.

Re: Dow's 1896 Vintage Port

Very interesting story Paul, thanks for telling us! I had to open this particular bottle to "one up" a 1963 Quinta Do Noval Nacional that Roy had brought to my house. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I had high hopes that it would live up to its reputation. I think it exceeded it, t...

The Dow 1980 is the best of the vintage although the 1980 Sandeman is very good, at least in magnum format!

That should keep you going over Thanksgiving, but what about Christmas drinking? [shok.gif] You're 100% correct, I've got to keep looking for more Port! I'll probably run out soon. I'm just worried that Sean, all buy himself, just drove up the price of Port in U.S. At least I know where to go if I ...
