Yeah, now that I have had experience with dozens (emphasis on the 's') of corked wines, I am pretty receptive to detecting it. Sometimes it may take well through the first glass to call it if it is very slight.

I describe it as Grandma's basement......maybe just mine though, and not yours?

Looks like a somewhat tired '63 VP. One that was out of a newly opened botle with little aeraton time that sometimes allows for a darkening of color.

Heck it may be older? An 1897 Byass I opened recently was of that color too.

I am in NYC this weekend and have mapped out several wine bars to visit. I'm sure there will be many a Port to be had at the end of the great meals I am looking forward to in the Big city.

[SOLVED] Can't Access Tasting Notes

I have tried the recommendation of logging off, clearing cookies, and logging back on but I still cannot access tasting notes. I renewed my subscription a while back well before my expiration deadline if recall correctly.

I have not yet had a '70 Dow, but I will seek one out now that i have read your shoutouts on that one.

I would have to go with the '77. I have introduced many a folks to VP with this one. Goes especially well with a cheese course I have found.

I'm a 36 year old Ludite as I just missed the real computer age growing up as a kid. I agree with alot of the sentiments above, my curiosity lies in conjunction with a recent discussion thread of attracting more younger people to Port. Would a Blog help in that respect? I dunno the answer, just thou...

My scepticism lies with the notion that we have caused it all. The thing with the delicate BALANCE of nature and the earth as a natural system is that we don't need to cause it all. We can be just a teeny tiny portion of greenhouse causing emmisions and be the straw that broke the camels back so-to...

This is (again) great news to me as I snagged a helluva deal on a 6 pack a few months ago. I have had one up on death row for over a month as i had planned to enjoy this one on Christmas. But on the Eve festivities, I forgot to decant and everyone's recommendation here was for a good 12 to 24 hours....

Otto recently posted his TN on the 76 Krohn here: http://www.fortheloveofport.com/ftlopforum/viewtopic.php?t=4509 He mentions a rancio flavor in his note (that peculiar earthen cheesey, mushroomy flavor profile) On New years I drank the '77 Krohn Colheita (party--no TN) and found it rather enjoyable...
