Really good point Heather. Unlke a few other auctions where I am able to put an overall auction total I am willing to spend, Chrisitie's doesn't appear to have that sort of stop-put option. So yeah, if I get all the lots I put bids on, the credit card is gonna take a ding

I cellar VP's, and Colheitas. And i do have a few LBV's in there that, Like Andy, i want to see how they age. This is since early in my Port drinking career i scored a huge mixed lot of VP's, LBV, and Ruby that was bottled mainly in the 80's. i drank them circa 2000-2 and thought several of the LBV'...

I can’t really speak to the other flavors, but I’d love to get a taste of that bottle. If San Diego and Edmonton were closer, I could even bring over a flawed bottle of my own.
Now Bryan....that's one off-line I wouldn't walk next door for :D

Ha, I musta graduated from Andy's school of value, or volume to price ratio...I usually ask for my port in a brandy glass for the same reason as they almost always pour more, especially when they realize those thumbnail glasses are basically shot size.....

You could pre-decant something, re-bottle it with a T stopper so that it is ready for serving?? It does take away the cache of the grandness of opening an old bottle with an audience however.

While it is light outside during the summer, dinner doesn't even happen until 10PM and there is usually a lot less lounging around inside in the evenings. Type: I think my tawny consumption stays about the same all year rou...
