Rare bottles in Arizona
Bob Fleming from Tucson, Arizona posted these Ports for sale on theportforum.com As Bob is now 86 and very far away from most of our members I thought it might be helpful to spread the word here where he might find a more local potential buyer. I have no affiliation to Bob or these bottles other tha...

Super Bowl LVI - what are we drinking?
I have not watched many NFL games this year but am now primed and ready for my annual ritual of falling asleep during the final stages of the Super Bowl in the early hours of a UK Monday morning.
Warre 1985 decanted and ready to go.
What are we drinking?

Re: Port Trophies vs. Port enjoyment
A conversation with friends has caused me to nudge this thread.
I am pleased to report that the Quinta do Noval Nacional 1963 mentioned in my earlier post was quite delicious, and Uncle Steve's bottle of Noval LB remains intact.
So, what are your thoughts on trophy bottles?

Re: 2017 Vintage Port Report
Roy, We spoke last year when things kicked-off around absent/late newsletters and, as was the case then, this post is intended to be helpful. I think the events of the past months and the resulting exchanges above demonstrate that there are conflicting expectations in play here. Some of your subscri...

Re: Diabetes
• Diabetes is not a secret. Tell people. At work, those nearby; friends with whom one drinks; family; others. I have had the pleasure of sharing many Porty evenings with Julian over the past decade or more and the advice I have quoted from his post is what I believe to be the most important bit. I ...

Re: What have you opened this week?
He used to tell me that his favorite Vintage Port that he ever tasted was the 1922 Martinez and he followed up by buying six of them in the early 1970's. Unfortunately, he left none behind and had consumed his six before we ever met I've never seen one and certainly never tasted one. So may I pleas...

Re: 2017 Vintage Port Forecast
Can we have an option to vote for A + B? Early impressions are inevitable. Waiting until October risks having nothing left to buy. I think on this subject more is more - many people are not lucky enough to be able to access samples of these newly released VPs. We should do all we can to help potenti...

Re: FTLOP's OFFICIAL 2017 Vintage Port thread
We are almost at a general declaration - except that at the BFT last week, the Sogrape people didn't think there would be an Offley or Sandeman '17 Given the quality of the '17s I tried that day, I very much hope they change their minds and join the party.. Given recent history, we're already there...

Re: FTLOP's OFFICIAL 2017 Vintage Port thread
The Dow 2017 data sheet is the only other from the Symingtons to mention format quantities, being 5,250 cases, including 240 magnums and 200 Tappit Hens.

Re: FTLOP's OFFICIAL 2017 Vintage Port thread
Noticeably absent and not declared: Quinta de Roriz and Smith Woodhouse ... IF only Gould Campbell still existed. Like other recent vintages, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the lesser brands are released in very small quantities into specialist markets. It probably just doesn't make comme...

Re: FTLOP's OFFICIAL 2017 Vintage Port thread
Oh my... 600 (9L) cases of The Stone Terraces? If you look carefully at the label on the vintage port site you will see that only 530 of those cases contain 75cl bottles, which suggests that the other 70 cases contain proper sized bottles 8--) Credit to Alex B for noticing this earlier today :salute:

Re: FTLOP's OFFICIAL 2017 Vintage Port thread
Whatever happens, if in five decades from now the 2017's turn out to be anywhere near as good as the Warre 1970 I am drinking right now then the producers of today will have done a good job. Unfortunately, I will probably have been dead for at least two of those decades before that part of the outco...

I honestly do not know, Roy. All I have seen or heard is the reports and speculation here plus that post on Instagram yesterday.
We will know soon enough
