Re: 1966 Taylor's Vintage Port

Andy,

It's drinking perfectly now but i wouldn't worry that much with it. It is a mature Port but i think it will stay like this for more years.
Of course there are some factors that can change what i wrote. I'm assuming a perfect keeping.

Hello Roy,

I've been here, but only reading.
Visiting the Fajã? Awesome. Someone will release soon a Wine from there. I just can't wait to have it.

Roy, do you mean the event in the IVV, just before Santarém, were we putted that line up of Madeiras?
Haven't been there this year too. :(

TN:1870 Fajã dos Padres Malvazia

Again, another huge experience with a Fajã dos Padres 1870 Fajã dos Padres Malvazia (19.5/20) Tasting Note: Brown amber. Oh my god, what an intensity here, so complex. Asian Spices, honey, incense, sea breeze. So crips, so alive for a 142 years old wine. Huge structure, dense texture and huge acidit...

Re: Opening a special bottle for New Years Eve?

Being one of the best New Year's Eve ever, in terms of Wine, these were the ports opened: Dow's Vintage 1945 Graham's Vintage 1966 Niepoort Vintage 1966 Niepoort 3 Gerações Loureiro VV 1871 Quinta do Noval 1880 Amazing stuff, i would say superb wines. Really difficult to choose the best, but the Dow...

Re: 1977 Niepoort Garrafeira Vintage Port - now available

Hi Guys,

The Garrafeira went to the Demijon in 1981.
There will be only 300btls worldwide so you will need to search really deep and don't expect to see big price variations.

Re: TN: Niepoort Projectos Pinot Noir Vinho Regional Trás-os-Montes 2006

Well Roy,

Lots of work at Niepoort, specially now that i am preparing a huge Event at Quinta de Nápoles next April.
My new condition at Niepoort, prevents me of writing more frequently. I don't want to misunderstood by talking about other Portuguese Wines. I you know what i mean....

Abraço,

The next Pinot will be the 2009, released probably in May.

The Reds: Mouchão 1992 Mouchão 1993 José Rosado Fernandes Tinto Velho 1958 All them were really good. The Mouchão were still young with loads of time in front of them. The Tinto Velho 1958 was just fantastic, no oxidation whatsoever, great lenght and savor. White: Domaine Raveneau Butteaux 2007. Si...

Re: Who is your top producer of Madeira?

Considering what they make today, as a whole. I mean Frasqueiras, Colheitas, 10 20 30 40 YO, or even simple Madeiras. Old and new Stuff. I will consider Barbeito. They have some great "Lotes" of those noble grapes. Considering only old stuff, pre 1930, well, there are so much good things t...

They just got there so they'll probably need time to do anything. I was in Burgundy last week (i had the time of my life) so i had time to talk with a friend that works at the Pousse D'Or, about this new project. They made a great investment and they will start soon to work. They have a lot of old p...

Today, just bought a few bottles of Roumier Chambolle 83 and Trapet Latriciéres-Chambertin 1978.

Re: Any Burg lovers out there?

JR, have a great trip to Burgundy. I HIGHLY recommend the restaurant Ma Cuisine in Beaune. It is only open 4 days per week, and you will need a reservation.
Thanks for the recomendation. I will go there for sure as i will be based in Beaune during the trip.

Re: Any Burg lovers out there?

I have to agree with Frederick. In the hands of a great producer, there is not much better than red Burgundy. And Mugnier is one of the best. Give his Chambolle villages a try, and there will be no going back! I'm in love with burgundy wines. In May there i will go for one whole week. Just can't wa...

Re: Niepoort VV - what is this

The VV (Vinho Velho/Old Wine) is a Tawny, a really old one from the beginning of the 20th century. Niepoort always did blends of Old Tawnies for some special bottlings and regarding some special moments. I remember the Niepoort "3 Gerações" (3 Generations) witch is even older than the VV. ...

Re: Rare Privilege

You are a lucky man but of course even before getting to the word Garrafeira, we knew if it was you ... it had to be Niepoort. Just like if it was Peter, it would have to be Nimrod. Amazing how that works. Roy, not sure what you mean by this. I will try my best to get the moment filmed, but i will ...
