Noval Nacional 1997

On http://www.marktplaats.nl you can find a Noval Nacional 1997 for E 500, i think its a bargain and i dont expect the price will be much higher on this site. So for any (dutch) bidders who want to own this bottle, rush to the site and bid. I dont have the money right now or i would have bought it a...

I own at the moment 3 houses, Graham's, Noval and Warre's Anyone else into this ? Cheers erik EDIT: i...

Re: George Sandeman - April's Forum Guest Corner Host

Mr. Sandeman,

like Andy said, welcome to this board and thank you for the time answering all our questions.

My question is fairly simple, what year of Sandeman VP is your favorite and why ?

kind regards,

1980 Real Vinicola Vintage Port

Bought this last week together with the Niepoort 30 year old Tawny. http://erikwiechers.com/images/port/real%20vinicola.JPG Since the store has multiple bottles i decided to open it to see if its worth buying some more bottles. The cork fell into the bottle upon trying to pull it. No problem, a siev...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

I bought a bottle of Niepoort's 30 year old tawny. This one was bottled in 1982 and therefore is now 58 years old.

1963 Martinez Vintage Port

Opened at 19 PM on christmas eve, let it breathe for 2 hours. Smell of caramel, figs and cherries. Pale pink colour. Taste of red fruit, caramel, marzipan. Very gentle and soft. It still has enough tannins in it to last another 5 years. Excellent tearing in the glass, looks like syrup. My friends we...

1920 Croft VP

At least, i hope so because there is no label anymore but just a sticker which says 1920 Croft. The good news is that it is a sticker from Christies, so who knows ?

Re: 1995 Taylor Quinta de Vargellas VP

I wonder if at your tasting this was just opened and poured with little to no air time.
Exactly what happened, he opened the bottle and started pouring immediately. In his opinion no VP should have to be decanted.

Re: My ever first tasting !

Old Ports generally do need decanting I know, i always do that myself, thats why i was so surprised hearing him say that. He is a viticulturist at Hanos, a big wholesale comapny for the hotel and catering industry. I did not say anything about it because i did not want to have a argument with him. ...

1970 Niepoort Colheita Port

Bottled in 1986, a amber/orange colour with bricking on the edge. Raisins, marzipan. Long soft and voloptues aftertaste with a superb balance. Definately the blockbuster of the evening. Never had a Niepoort Colheita before. This one is a keeper. I wonder what it would be if it was given more time to...

1995 Taylor Fladgate Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port

Lots of red fruit, strawberries. Color is dark red. Not a "declared" vintage port, but still a very nice port to see and smell.
Taste is burning, lots of tannins. Clearly not matured at all, needs at least another 10-15 years before it really starts to opening up.
