I ordered 2 from Premier Cru at 499 ea, but they only had 18 for sale at the time. Last I looked they had none left.

Re: Do you appreciate BOURBON?

overall I find Bourbon much too sweet (this from a guy who loves port, go figure..), I prefer rye, Scotch, and Irish. Yes most makers use caramel coloring, and some , like my beloved crown royal mainstay. are making silly flavored whiskies (Black and Maple) now that are just terrible, I can't even s...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?

Agreed, its a good deal for sure for Nacional becuase its more valuable to me to have it as early as possible in its life than trying to buy it 15 to 20 years from now not knowing where the heck its been. Website said they only had 24 available, I didn't want to be greedy!

I just went bat &^%t crazy today... [shok.gif] Local or online? Your neighbor to the north is trying to decide where to buy. on line. I went to tcwc and premier cru. The 499 looked like s good price for Nacional and they had good pricing on the taylor, dow, and grahams...I think the tcwc was go...

1977 Graham's Vintage

A little bit flat on the nose (alcohol only) and the initial flavor profile is weak, resolves to a primarily cherry menthol, slightly medicinal in flavor, but still a fine beverage. Nice sticky and long finish, typical of Grahams higher sweetness factor..the finish goes and goes, resolves to "g...

My 1988 is Quinta do Vau. I didn't think the newer "Vau Vintage" juice was any different, but just jazzy new marketing label. My guess is its no longer SQ per your comment, good to know!

Re: What have you opened this week?

1977 taylor, was scary as it was part of the terrible shipment I got earlier this year with bottles covered in old leakage. I kept two of six. this is the lesser condition of the 2 I kept with a high cork, but no signs of leaking. It was great. With friends over a football game, so not worth comment...

Re: What was the first Port you ever tasted?

1988 Grahams Malvedos around 2004...It hooked me instantly to see what a nicely aged VP could be. Been hooked ever since, and that started not only my port craze, but me being just wine nuts in general! [help.gif] I am sure I had the odd tawny here and there before hand in restaurants, but that Malv...

TN 1950 Kopke Cohleita

bottled 2004 opened 10/27/2012 Almost to a pale orange, incredibly smooth, still has good sweetness, and a nice, although one dimensional, flavor profile. Probably past its prime, but I really enjoyed it and was a solid showing. not worth the tariff, other than a pleasure to share a wine with my fat...

2001 Quinta de Roriz Vintage Port

Decanted in cellar for approximately 5 hours (could probably have used more). burnt /raisin / alcohol on the nose, probably the most disappointing, nice fruit, and good acidity up front, very much a dried raisin / dried prune flavor profile, with good tannic structure. will last a good fifteen years...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Buddy of mine bought some 1997 Barros Cohleita at Costco. $38. Not earth shattering stuff, but quite good for the tariff. We were somewhat inebriated when we started partaking though so who knows....
