Re: Tête-à-tête: Graham's Six Grapes vs. Noval Black

[1974_eating_popcorn.gif] While we are all on the lookout for the final list, perhaps we can start coming up with a list of suggested amuse-bouche to accompany the Ports. I'll start: 1. Maple syrup glazed, Hickory smoked baccn wrapped, manchego stuffed dates Please feel free to move this to another ...

Christian,

This may "require" a triple blind taste test for you. Triple blind when a double blind just won't do. [rotfl.gif]

Re: Quinta do Noval has a new website

I just had a quick visit to the website again, most prominent was the speed at which the revamped new website loaded. It will be nice to take more time to poke around. As I am NOT one to mince words when opinions are asked for, I for one must give kudos to Noval for their quick positive response to ...

Re: International #PortDay

I whole heartedly agree that a longer lead time would be best. Once Port Day becomes a regular event we will all have plenty of time for planning. After all, these things do take a while to have most of the kinks flushed out. I personally would love to have at least 12 month lead time however, just ...

Re: International #PortDay

Since we didn't know about it until Saturday morning, we missed this year. We have however already started getting the guest list together for next year. :-)

Re: OFFICIAL #PortDay Organizer thread

Once again, I ask: In the future, is this to be Jan 27, fourth Friday of January, or last Friday of January? :twocents: If it hasn't been decided yet, I would think that having it set as a Friday (or even Saturday) would be logical. At least in the US, going out on a Friday or Saturday night is a w...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself

Maybe one of these days you and Carl will join us on "tour" to explore some of the rare and amazing wines that you will never see here in the USA. Have a look at our travel page which can be accessed from on the homepage here. Go to the top of this page and click on the FTLOP Home. [cheer...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Noval Black.

Opened earlier this week and while it is a very drinkable port, the last glass tonight was showing its age.

Re: Quinta do Noval has a new website

[foilhat.gif] It’s most fortunate that the first time I visited their web site was just a few months ago when the old one was still up. I had just learned about the Quinta do Noval 1937 and over several days did some research on reviews of the Port (thanks Roy), pricing, Quinta do Noval, the Doro Va...

Re: OFFICIAL #PortDay Organizer thread

Now that I know about it, it looks like "Port Day" will have to go on my calendar for next year.

This gives me a year to gather a list of Port-Heads in the area for a party.

[imnewhere.gif] While it may be easiest to say “Ditto” to my husband Carl’s post previously I’ll add a few of tidbits about me. I’ve learned over the years that my nose is the leader for wines my tongue may like. If the wine passes the nose, it then can barrage my taste buds will all of its subtle a...
