Re: Douro Boys

I am glad to hear of new investment in the Douro, but horrified to hear of Syrah being planted - even if only experimentally. Not experimentally, since we already have wines in the Douro with Syrah. There are a lot of international grapes in the Douro. Niepoort does some Projects with Riesling and ...

Re: A tough Port question

I think that's not completely true as i just talked about that last weekend with Dirk. A few time ago there were some movements to end the designation Garrafeira. This movement was held by a port producer. Anyway, the previous President of IVDP Jorge Monteiro, called Dirk and signed the permission t...

Re: Check out Quinta do Crasto LBV on video!

Well, In my opinion, the LBV's were, and are, meant (as a product) to be consumed on release or in a near future. They were made to fulfill the urgent need to have a port, vintage style, to be consumed early and consequently not so expensive. Of course that doesn't mean they must be consumed like if...

They Gaia office was not really an office but a laboratory for wine analysis.
If you are talking about the one that is in the street of were is nowadays the Niepoort warehouse, i think is abandoned for a long time.

Re: Your favorite Madeira(s) of 2008?

I've been having a lot of Madeiras from 19th century but until now, nothing comparable to this one This was lost in a restaurant and the owner, who i know, just offered this bottle after dinner. And i had to struggle with my friends to keep what wa...

That's the seal from Junta Nacional do Vinho. This lot, where this bottle belongs, was certified and bottled after 1970 and before 1982, as JNV was renamed for IVV (Instituto da Vinha e do Vinho, wich is were i work).
