October/November 2023 Warres Otima 20 Year
There was a discussion in one of my notes from a tasting on the Warres Otima 20 Year Old and a few wondered if worth retrying given its history. So I thought I'd open up the Virtual Tasting Room to it. If Otima 20 is not your bag in tawnies, please taste something else---more participation makes for...

Re: 20 Year+ Tawnies Recap
Just a follow up. On Sunday I sampled the leftover Otima and Feuerheerds---the Otima was not quite as good--just OK-- but still had a big nose. Tasted a little light. The Feuerheerds held up nicely and was more robust and interesting. I'm going to grab another as well. Maybe we can all taste in the ...

Cedovim Brand??
Saw this in a B&M store. A 20 year tawny for $19.99 - seems way too good to be true. No notes. Never heard of this brand---do we know anything about this?? Thanks (I did not buy, perhaps should have--it is just 18 minutes away so...)

Re: 1995 Smith Woodhouse LBV Port
Also a favorite of mine, especially when just starting my Port journey. Usually rated in the 92-95 range. Exceptional LBV.
As to older LBVs Mike W and I are long range planning to do an LBV tasting of all pre 2000 Ports.
And I have one bottle left which will be included herein.
Happy Labor Day!!

Re: What have you opened this week?
1980 Ferreira Recently acquired it arrived as a leaker (known at auction it had leaked), so stood it up, wrapped top in plastic wrap and gave the bottle some time to settle. Late yesterday afternoon began the decanting process for a dinner party and when I removed the cap/foil there was no cork........

1963 Taylor Vintage Port
This was such a fun bottle. It had two capsules, once both were off bubbles emerged from the cork and there had been just a little seepage under the capsule--super sticky. (Had to use "Goof Off" cleaner to clean up later.). Upon opening there was a little bottle stink so given all that had...
