The Tappit Hen vs. Tregnum, the photo showed of the Graham's 2021 Stone Terraces is the former. Learn the difference between these two shaped Port bottles, as written in the blog of Berry Bros. & Rudd: https://blog.bbr.com/2021/11/29/the-tappit-hen-insights-from-bbx/?fbclid=IwAR1dzAlm84dWAOY9xK...

Re: Decanting time for 1900 Niepoort Colheita

I've had this one and the VV with several hours of decanting and it was stunning. So I don't think you would go wrong with a few hours of air.

Re: Naked Wines - Quevedo wine/Port sale

If you’re a first time customer send me a PM. I just got a number of $100 off vouchers for first time customers. Min purchase of $169.99 required. But $100 off is a good savings.

Re: What have you opened this week?

Yeah, you need to use a Durand or Ah-So for any wine cork from the latter 1990’s to the early 2000’s. Otherwise be prepared for a million tiny pieces. No clue what the cork industry did to them back then. They seal fine. But getting them out is messy. I haven't experienced this problem with any pro...

Re: What have you opened this week?

1994 Quinta do Vesuvio. Decanted for 12 hours. The cork exploded into a bazillion pieces but the Port is in great shape. Dark purple, no meniscus and it's ever so slightly syrupy. Simply delicious and I suspect it will drink even better tomorrow. Edit: This bottle has been a revelation. I've had th...

Yes was able to see pics. Thanks. Definitely sounds like an off bottle. It should be Dark, youthful and not as advanced as what your described.

Re: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1966

While it has been a bit since the last time I had this, I recall it being very dark colored and youthful still. Sounds like your bottle was very advanced, possible bad cork or not stored well at some point.

Re: What have you opened this week?

Hey, that looks like my New Year's Bottle! 2023-12-31 13.25.51.jpg This is very weird. I just got my Port shipped to me from storage. I didn't want to tear through all of the boxes looking for the "perfect" Port so I opened my 1994 Vesuvio footlocker and have one standing up. Enjoy, hopef...

Naked Wines - Quevedo wine/Port sale

If you happen to have a Naked Wines account, or thinking about it, they have an excellent deal site-wide. Some very nice Quevedo wines and Ports that are rather cheap. 10 yr tawny for $13 and 2016 unfiltered LBV for $14. Free shipping if over $200/total. Their cases are actually up to 15 bottles, so...

Re: Updating the madeira wine vintage list

Cellartracker folks are very good about fixing entry errors. If you find any, I'd compile a list and email them so they can sort it out and fix what needs to be fixed. I do so every once in a while when I find glaring errors or duplicates of Ports (lots of vintages people enter for 10/20/30...tawnys...

Re: 1853 Whitwham Porto Millennium- Reserve King Pedro V

Depsite the rumors, this was a collaboration of Cristiano Van Zeller and DIrk NIepoort. Cristiano has/had been buying old casks in the Douro for many years, long before old tawny's were fashonable and expensive. This was one of those casks. He partnered with Dirk, who did freshen it up with a tiny b...

6-8 hours is pretty good. I’ve a few of these lately and they’re drinking quite well at the moment.

1995 Smith Woodhouse Madelena VP. In a beautiful spot, based on this bottle. But no rush either.
