Thanks for the advice Dave :D . I recently recieved a half case of 2003 Quinta do Portal which I ordered from a reputable (I think) seller in the UK. It took over two months for the wine to arrive, and then the package (thin cardboard around a styrofoam packer) was mostly crushed and fell apart into...

It's rare, at least in my (limited) experience, to see cases of the Grahams 1966 for sale in the US. All the good old stuff is in the UK! It looks like a reasonable price even with shipping. But what are peoples opinions on shipping port which is that old, all the way from the UK to the US, in parti...

Niepoort markets LBV's in 375ml (see my recent tasting note of the '99 - it was very good) I agree that the 1999 Niepoort LBV is very good, and at $16/750 mL or $8 for the 375 mL is a great deal and is my go-to everyday port. The 375's can be poured without decanting with a little care, as there is...

I have seen the 1994 here at Aabalat for US $25/bottle. When I called they had already sold out, but I got a half case of the 1992 from them. I also recently got a half case of the 2000. I have not tasted the 2000 yet but the 1992 was very good. Decanter picks both the 1992 and the 2000 in their vin...

Sounds like we are on to something! With the SoCal contingent, and if Randomguy is in, that brings it up to 5 with myself. Surely we can get another 7-9 people. I know at least three more people who, although not port fanatics, would join! I was at the Wine Club here in SF this weekend and they thou...

What type of Port tasting would you like to see in SF? How many people would you want to attend? That's a good question as I have never been to a wine or port tasting of any kind. I would like to extend my knowledge of "whats good", and what do I personally like enough to invest significa...

Port tasting?

The bay area appears to be far removed from Portugal...I have been searching for any local port tasting for the past three months and have not found anything. I have been enjoying this site for a while as a guest and find myself wondering what I'm missing...surely there must be some tastings down he...
