Naked Wines - Quevedo wine/Port sale

If you happen to have a Naked Wines account, or thinking about it, they have an excellent deal site-wide. Some very nice Quevedo wines and Ports that are rather cheap. 10 yr tawny for $13 and 2016 unfiltered LBV for $14. Free shipping if over $200/total. Their cases are actually up to 15 bottles, so...

Re: Updating the madeira wine vintage list

Cellartracker folks are very good about fixing entry errors. If you find any, I'd compile a list and email them so they can sort it out and fix what needs to be fixed. I do so every once in a while when I find glaring errors or duplicates of Ports (lots of vintages people enter for 10/20/30...tawnys...

The last one I tried, you were there for. How ever long ago that was.

Re: 1853 Whitwham Porto Millennium- Reserve King Pedro V

Depsite the rumors, this was a collaboration of Cristiano Van Zeller and DIrk NIepoort. Cristiano has/had been buying old casks in the Douro for many years, long before old tawny's were fashonable and expensive. This was one of those casks. He partnered with Dirk, who did freshen it up with a tiny b...

6-8 hours is pretty good. I’ve a few of these lately and they’re drinking quite well at the moment.

1995 Smith Woodhouse Madelena VP. In a beautiful spot, based on this bottle. But no rush either.

1/2 bottle of 2006 Quinta do Crasto Old Vine Reserva. Well past its best days but still enjoyable given its age. If you own some still, I’d recommend drinking sooner than later.

Re: Noval Nacional 1982

I have tried it 4-5 years ago and it was not a very memorable bottle. I would look else where to send my money and don't let the "Nacional" part fool you. The 1980's were not kind to Quinta do Noval. In 1981 their storage in Vila Nova de Gaia went up in flames along with 350.000 liters of...

Agree with others.

My cap would be maybe $100-150 just for the sake of helping a vertical tasting at some point later.

Re: What Portuguese wine have you purchased this week...

Strolled into my local Costco and did my usual pass through the wine section. Rarely see anything Portuguese except their 10 yr tawny and Bin 27. So was I surprised when I saw an obvious Portal label, the 2017 Colheita Tinto for a rather cheap $11. Grabbed a bunch, opened one at home, liked it…drink...

Re: What have you opened this week?

Will be opening a 1912 tomorrow night. One of four bottles bought ten years ago, capsules indicating that they were bottled by Messrs Day of London (about whom I know nothing at all) and the vintage date. Will be knockng the neck off with tongs heated in my pub's fire and it will join a motley coll...

Re: What have you opened this week?

It was alright. It definitely seemed like it underwent accelerated aging, but I don't have enough experience with small bottle sizes to say more than that. Could just be bottle variation. If you have a 375ml, I would suggest opening one to try - I don't think it will be "early" by any mea...

2020 Quinta da Fonte Souto Taifa Branco

This is the debut vintage of this limited production "ultra" white from the property. Whereas the previous flagship white was about 75% Arinto and about 25% Verdelho, this wine is 100% Arinto aged for 11 months in 100% new Hungarian and French oak barrels and then aged for an additional tw...
