"Andresen" or "J. H. Andresen"

The page of tasting notes mentions shippers "Andresen" and "J. H. Andresen". I strongly suspect that these two shippers could be combined under a common name.

Family trouble

Family trouble: almost all of my port is in my father's cellar, in my wine rack therein, and in scattered cases. So far, so good. Except that some months ago my father called to complain that his cellar was too full (!), too cluttered, and that no more may be delivered. Nothing. As you might imagine...

T83 much weaker than T85; IMHO, 1985s are great value

In this thread I am trying to buy some 1985s for a horizontal. Noval particularly wanted, but also Croft, Gould Campbell, and Offley Boa Vista. Delivery to Sussex or London (I live in NY so can't rush around the country to collect). Willing to exchange for other ports. Please reply in that thread . ...

You did delete my post!

You did delete my post! And it still doesn't work, and the word "admin" doesn't appear anywhere obvious.

Roy does this for free.

Roy does this for free. We benefit. If we each help in a modest way (less than the cost of a bottle of moderate VP), we all benefit.

G85 & S85 done; Noval 85 very much wanted

Very helpful -- thank you. G85 & S85 done. Other possible sellers: • Selfridges: no 85s. • Harrods: only Warre. • Fortnum and Masons: Dow, Taylor, and Fonseca. • Fine and Rare : Cockburn, Dow, Sandeman, Taylor, and Warre. • Elliston and Southwick Court : Croft, and Taylor. • Farr Vintners : Fons...

---sorry I (stewart) inadvertently edited your post instead of mine! Apologies.

For those curious, his post basically said he was having the same issue :)

Chocolate and spearmint

I have tasted one of this cache of the "Blandy's" 1792 malmsey (bottled by Blandy's in 1840), and found it huge, and full of chocolate and spearmint (!). Did I like it? Yes and no — I certainly preferred the more 'conventional' eighteen-hundreds Madeiras served with it. It was certainly an...

Wanted: 1985s

For a horizontal 1985 to be held in mid-March I am missing and would like to purchase bottles from several houses: Noval, Graham's, Croft, Sandeman, and Gould Campbell. Only one of each is needed, though a pair wouldn't be too much to buy. Awkwardly for delivery the tasting will be at my father's in...

Terrantez 1795: it's cheap

I've just read this forum, and was going to say that I'll have it at that price if you don't want it, before seeing that I am too late.

Good luck with it -- and if you want a Madeira enthusiast to assist your tasting, I am available that evening.

Port tongs

The problem lies with your tongs, which are of the lesser design. Some tongs, such as yours and these , have a ring that is perpendicular to the handles. Others, such as these *, have the ring parallel to the handles. Parallel is better: one can lie the tongs on the cooker, make millimetric adjustme...

"this email is already registered"

I am logged in, using Firefox 2.0.0.1. Using the lower-left user profile (top one, confusingly, doesn't work) pop-down I get to my profile, which I edit. I add names etc, only to be told something like "this email is already registered". Please help? I'm also having trouble in Firefox with...
