Re: Have you ever purchased a vertical of Port?

Roy, got the shipment today. Top rate condition on all 14 bottles. My first 63, so I am a little concerned when I opened it and the capsule is kind of funky looking, but many pictures on line have similar situation on these bottlings. Everything looks great, no signs of any major seeps or even reall...

Re: Here's the Buying Op you've been waiting for!

Roy, thanks for the great deal. I did pick up three cohleita's and some of the table wines to make my six pack. Cohleita is not really my thing, I prefer aging the VP's myself ;-), but I look forward to having some of these old beasts! [cheers.gif] I got one each of the 67 Rocha, 57 Rocha, and 50 Ko...

Re: Should "vintage port" be capitalized?

well, the bottle itself is probably an asset that can be capitalized, since it has future use / salvage value and is technically an asset. The juice however, is a consumable commodity, and can not. I would say the cork is a disposable consumable and therefore fits as an operating cost expense. maybe...

Re: Help evaluating an old port wine bottle

If stored standing up there is a good chance the cork has dried and the wine has gone bad, seriously devaluing the wine. The best way to approach this bottle is to pop it, and if its good, enjoy every drop.

1977 Graham's Vintage Vintage Port

A little dirty under the capsule, a bit of leakage and crustiness there, the cork unfortunately did not come out well, but was easily caught in my stainless steel mesh strainer. Unbelieveable amount of sediment. Fairly light in color for VP, showing a beautiful bright red once enough was in the glas...

Re: Quick advice!

I am guessing "nice" is a little tongue in cheek and he believes he can see some wine making its way up the side of the cork on a jouney to leakageville. Time to pull!

Re: Do you use the dishwasher or hand wash your Port stems?

to get scale off of decanters, I use ice and salt. put about a few tablespoons of sea salt in there with a bunch of ice cubes and swich it around madly. works pretty well.

Re: HDTV Flat & Large Screen: LED/LCD vs. Plasma

I dont think so, I think just one cat5 line....but I am not completely sure.
Long HDMI is more expensive is my understanding.... Our run was just under 100 feet, and the straight shot hdmi cable was going to be like $750.
Cat5 was already in and you get full 1080p.
