2001 Quinta do Vale Meão Vintage Port

2001 VP Quinta do Vale Meão Decanted for 4 hours, this guy shows a dark violet color with no signs of evolution. The nose, a little closed at the beginning, became to show plums, cherries, raisins and some chemical that already found in 2004 VP. Then came liquorice and some violets. Average body wit...

Re: Do you still own pre-2000 Douro wines?

With or without that bottle of 1962 Ferreirinha in hand, I am really looking forward to meeting you. Sorry it did not work out this year ... but we tried. In 2010, we will definitely share bottles together! [cheers.gif] I have to say, I am finding this fascinating hearing what everyone has that is ...

Re: Amazing dinner...and a dream come true.

Dear Joao, thanks for posting the TNs, this must have been a night to remember... [cheers.gif] I have never seen a bottle of 1795 Terrantez of Real Vinicola da Madeira, so I am curious, whether this is one more 1795 T to add to the ever growing list of Madeiras. Or could it have been a Companhia Vi...

Re: Amazing dinner...and a dream come true.

Another light '77 Fonseca. Do you remember when these were young and impenetrably purple ink opaque and brooding. I am trying to figure out why the color is fading on these so early. Well, it wasn't that light, yes lighter than the 76, but it wasn't much lighter. BTW, we drank the wine in the night...

Re: Amazing dinner...and a dream come true.

Hi Roy,

Well, i don't find the photo of that bottle. It stated only the vineyard and the vintage. No producer at all

As for the Fonseca 77, the wine showed a light ruby color, but the 76 was darker.

The reason for this event was a bottle of Real Vinícola da Madeira Terrantez 1795, but allong came some other beauties. Well, the Terrantez 1795 was an incredibl...

Re: ok taking the plunge on 2007 VP

It could be worse, you could've been born in 1972. I don't believe there are any VPs from that year, at least none, that I have personally ever seen.
Actually there are a Fonseca and a Vargellas from 72. Both kinda bad, but extremely rare.

Re: Has anybody tried 2005 Chryseia Post Scriptum

Roy,

I tried that wie lot's of times. For me is a great QRP. Sell's around 10€. It's a wine that expresses the Douro, the Touriga. Round but with tannins, Smooth, beautifull nose. Very szavoury.
Buy it to drink but not to hold. Probably at it's best.

Re: What Have I Bought?

From Blandy's, that wine is probably a 5 years old made from Tinta Negra Mole.
I had 2 months ago a wine from Blandy's, with another name used for esporting, with that Old Reserve label and i found it to be just a 5 years TNM.
That couls be the same. My bottle was little older than yours.
