Ever had a port you didn't like?
Browsing through a local wine merchants selection of ports I was considering whether a port was worth buying (Pocas 2002 VP). My reservation was that 2002 was not widely declared and I was considering if it was a good buy. Then it struck me that it basically (!) :? didn't matter since I've never had...

Re: Do you prefer Tawny or Ruby Style of Port
I voted tawny, but since my experience with high end aged VP's has been very limited I may be casting my vote on the wrong basis.
But I really love those old tawnies

Delaforce Corte 1987 VP
Noticed that this is a Delaforce Corte? Is that a SQVP or is Corte just part of the name? +0 Very light red color, with a hint of orange. Almost white alogn the edge. Smell very faint, but a touch of fruit. Quite much alcohol in the taste. Not much fruit but a tawny like aftertaste which lingers in ...

Krohn 1900. It's been a while since I tried it, but I remember it as the best ever.

...and in the TN section when so many TN's get posted at once, it leaves me a little cross eyed/overwhelmed. I agree with Richard. Logging into the Tasting forum and seing 10-20 or even 40 new TN's posted by the same user is overwhelming, and some of them seem to be added for the benefit of...

Andy, how well confirmed is this story, and how come it affected all producers? It must have been a huge scandal at the time.Andy Velebil wrote:Nicholas,
The short story on why there is not more 1973 Ports around was because it was contaminated by what turned out to be industrial brandy.

NV Graham's "The Tawny" Tawny Port
Decided to kick off christmas with this botttle I found in a local wine shop and couldn't resist to try it even though I usually don't buy tawnies without age. Priced at $28 and with the Graham's name on the label I didn't expect to be disapointed. Clear glass bottle with large wooden T-cork. The bo...

Introduction to Madeira
I'm looking for a good article which introduces Madeira and the types of wine which are made. I've tried searching the forum, but haven't been able to find a general introduction. Can somebody help me?

Not sure how many producers (or consumers for that matter) are going to side with buddy over the use of screw caps on their flagship VP... can you imagine ripping off the foil cap on your 2007 Noval Nacional only to find underneath a screw cap???  Well, imagine uncorking your 2007 Nacion...

1999 Rozes Vintage Port
Quite a lot of seepage considering the age, allmost all the way through the cork. I hope it is just this bottle. +0 Medium red with slight purple color around the edge Sweet fruity smell with a touch of alcohol in the nose. Maybe it's cherries I'm associating this smell with, not really sure. Heavy ...

In my opinion you can't really go wrong here. I would say that a VP could do the trick, but maybe a colheita with some age or a 10Y or 20Y tawny would be better. Ether way, I don't think the flavours in this dessert are so special or powerfull that they would ruin any port (or the other way around)....
