Meh, meant to make one last point... Am I the only one who thinks Alain Vigneault should be fired for leaving Luongo in there for eight? I mean, if you don't pull him at the end of the second, you HAVE to pull him after the fifth.
Brutal!

Re: Boston Bruins
We were just stunned by the hit on Horton. Vancouver has the talent to win, I just don't know why they feel the need to dish out as many cheap shots as they do. Whenever they take it too far, it ultimately comes back to bite them (no pun intended). I think they would have swept Chicago if not for t...

Re: Have you, or do you plan to buy any 2003 Vintage Ports?
My experience with the 03 Portal recently was closed as well. 2003 got me into VP in the first place as it is the birth year for my first child, lucky kid. He'll have plenty to choose from when he reaches 21 (or maybe 30 and can appreciate it then!) I'll continue to pick more 03's up when i get them...

Fonseca 2005 LBV (unfiltered) - anyone have any experience with is? Any good? Haven't gotten around to opening it yet.
Also 6x Noval 2004 LBV. If I eave it for a few years, i'll be able to pretend like i'm decanting off sediment from a fine VP!

Re: Vintage Charts
Several years ago, I did my own vintage chart and included it in one of the FTLOP newsletters. Jeff, are you looking to take this project on for the entire group? [shrug.gif] Roy, if you send me a bottle from each year of VP produced, I will no on be happy o catalogue a comprehensive list of Vintag...

Anyone here a technical trainer or teacher?
I don't deliver technical training usually. Nor "teach" in the sense of a formal, structured classroom teaching. I have a great deal of respect for those that can, and can do it with such ease. More so after Friday, during which i delivered a seven hour training course on a Video surveilla...

Re: What is your Port "cellar defender" ?
Well regardless of what USED to be inside, it was the number one selling Port in the world. I love what is now in the bottle. Not a fan of the squared off shoulders, but I do like the new label and the clear bottle will allow it to stand out. Not sure why the square shoulders, but whatever. I am ha...

Re: Generally speaking do you prefer the dry style of Port or sweeter style?
Generally speaking, what drew me to Port in the firs place was it's sweetness. I am a sweet guy. However, I have since learned that, done right, dry red wines (and drier style Ports) can be just fine too. In Port, I don't have a defined preference except it has to be "good" - insert broad,...

I love dark chocolate and I love Port, but I don't do the two together... Couldn't begin to guess on combinations.

Re: LCBO & 2009 Vintage Port
Todd, At the prices the LCBO will be selling the 2009 Vintage Ports, you can certainly fly down to CA, make your purchase, have a nice dinner, spend a night in a hotel and fly back the next day and still save money. Getting your wine across the border may be the challenge. But what are good friends...

Re: Boston Bruins
Was away camping for the weekend and although the air tv feed we pulled in was too grainy to really tell what was going on, someone across the way had a satellite dish other rig that allowed the a ice crystal clear image. We could tell what the outcome was from the Canuck fans who were whooping it u...

Re: 2003 Portal VP
As a cask sample this stood out and above the vast majority of VP's from 2003. It was in the top half dozen of all and remains an amazing youthful VP with tons of upside growth ahead. Ten years from now, it will still taste like a youngster, and that is the only downside. This really will start to ...

Re: Off site Port storage?
Hmm, just guesstimating here, but my cellar would likely be about 90-95% port. A few ice wines that we're waiting on an "occasion" to consume, a few other wines, mainly Portuguese Reds, but a few French Bordeauxs (cheaper ones), and some Canadian blushes which my wife likes, not for aging,...

Re: Tawny Ports - Any variation on different bottling years?
That is one thing that keeps people coming back to certain tawny blends is that consistency. I enjoy Taylor 20 for the fact that it shows nearly the same every time I have it. I know i can introduce friends and family to the Taylor 20 and expect the same output ever time. Taylor 10 is the same, I al...

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
2x Noval LBV 2004... Buy n try... If i like it a lot, a case or three will be coming home with me, perhaps one will get "lost" in the far corners of the cellar (which is equivalent to three and a half feet away from the wine racks, but if I throw an old jacket or blanket over it, perhaps i...

Re: What is your largest single Port purchase?
My single largest purchase was actually a number of purchases spread over a few days, so perhaps doesn't count. It was 12 to 18 months ago when Tesco first put the Croft LBV 2004 on the shelf at £3.99 per half bottle. I spent the next few days visiting every Tesco store I could find and by the end ...
