I believe the Symington's now owns 20 quintas since they have completed a buyout of Cockburn's.

I would be very interested as it is the birthyear of my daughter as well, just like Todd. I have always trusted and valued your (Roy) ability to try young ports as a guide for my buying.

Andy, thanks for the encouragement. I as well was impressed with the Lote 601 The driven cork was shorter than the traditional port cork, but still so rare to see on a house ruby. No sediment found in my bottle to speak of. Upon first pour the color wasn't very opaque albeit dark. It was a pretty re...

Thanks to this the Ah-So. Warning, however, don't let a relative try it for the first time in front of a group. Let's say plunge splash and a red face (and not due to port splashin up on him)

I wouldn't go as far to say they get in the way, but I like the tannins present to give the mouthfeel and finish, however I definately prefer them integrated and subdued. When drinking a port that is younger than 20 years I expect a tannic grip and it doesn't lessen my experience though. I'm current...

Ficklin was the first total port winery in California according to their website. I haven't had a chance to try their wine however because the prices are the same, sometimes higher, than the Portugal ports on the shelf right next to it.

I have some 1997 silval, any advice on when to pop the cork? I've had one about 1 1/2 years ago and it was too young for my taste.

Andy, I'm amist the same experiment. I've had different unfiltered LBVs several different times over the last 3-4 years. To see if and how they evolve. I must say the Noval 97 has been an interesting one. It was the first LBV my wife and I truly loved. It went through a phase for the last two years ...

Todd, I've seen that same 15-35% premium charge. I've seen it as high as $23.99 and have bought it on sale as low as $13.99 (hence my current bottles) I think it is a good port for $14, but would rather have a solid LBV in the $19+ range.

I totally agree Todd, open at my house as of last night is a bottle of Graham's six grapes and 2000 Osborne LBV. The graham's is significantly more structured and the osborne is weak thin lighter in color and very spirity on the nose palate and finish. I have tried most rubies available here in the ...

Thanks again Todd. I went out to buy the 2000 Osborne LBV I mentioned earlier. I'll post a note soon when I try it.

Seems like before long this post might cover most 2000 LBVs produced.

AWESOME!!!

Anyone have experience with this or any Osborne LBVs?

It is pretty inexpensive at $18/bottle.

Thanks Todd for all your assistance. Here's what I've tried so far: I'm not experienced enough to do tasting notes/ratings but here is an overall impression. Quinta do Noval 2000 LBV: Good, but not the quality of 1997 LBV. The nose wasn't as floral as the 1997 or 1999 and was a bit more spirity. It ...

How can I celebrate .... TNR all 2000 LBVs

I was married in 2000 and would like to see if I could start a thread as a singular source for TNs for 2000 LBVs I can celebrate with until the 2000 VPs start opening up again. Anyone help?
