1967 Nicolau de Almeida Vintage Port

Decanted for about 1 hour. Cork was pulverized upon pulling so i had to pour the wine through a sieve. Cherry/brown colour. Smell is spicy, with some fruit. Taste is fresh, a little acid but also smooth. Very sweet taste also with hints from smoked wood. Pretty long aftertaste with caramel. Overall ...

The seller said he also had a 1944 vintage so i had to buy that one too. € 210 less i went outside with a happy smile on my ...

100 % is port, 48 bottles.
I dont like red wine, too acid for me (or maybe i just have to learn to drink it).
Rosé is for girls :D and white wine is not my cup of tea either.

Alex,

found another supplier for this wine. He is charging € 172 a bottle instead of € 231 at the other supplier.
So i am thinking about buying a few bottles.

Thanks for the link.

Cheers

In euro's, the most i ever spent on a bottle is 135 (approx. 180 US $)
It was on the bottle you see in my pic
<----

If i had the money i would buy a Noval Nacional 1963 for € 3000 ( $ 4000 )
In reality, i'm willing to buy a Niepoort 1940 for € 295 ( $ 400)

Cheers

Answer to the question

Hello all, i've contacted the company of Ramos Pinto and this is what they came up with: Dear Sir In fact, the company which produced the bottled that you bought no longer exists and it used to be called Nicolau de Almeida and not João Nicolau de Almeida. João is the first name of Ramos Pinto's wine...

Hi S. Marello,

I did a search at their site but their Nicolau de Almeida was born in 1949 and my wine is from 1935. But maybe it is a relative of him. I will ask them also if they know more about this wine.
hanks.

Cheers,

Erik

1991 Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port

Ok, this is my first publishing note so please be gentle. I decanted the wine at 4:30 PM, the smell of cassis and ripe fruit immediately hit my nose, a full sweet smell. with blackberries, leather, rose-hips and violets. A promising start. The colour is very purple, almost black. 7:30 PM Me and my f...

Hi all, as a new member from the Netherlands im very pleased to be here. I just recently started to develop a deeper interest in port. The past years i only drank the supermarket ports (which can be quite drinkable too sometimes). The past couple of months i started to collect the more reknown ports...
