So after these two deals, Global Wines and Taylor Fladgate have considerable new stock. They haven't got the financial difficulties CD had, and will have some form of business plans. I cant get my head around them just sitting on it, so a significant proportion will surely enter the market within th...

Hi Todd , I'm 10 days into mine. I'm bored and hungry and missing my Port. I'm desperate for my first target, the 19th Jan, to turn up. I've got a 6 bottle 85 Tasting lined up with two friends, including Fonseca, Dows and Martinez. I'm almost as excited at the thought of the chips and steak before i...

Did you gents read this thread or just the first posting? 8--) Roy, I always look forward to reading your Posts, and digesting your opinions and knowledge. I would though, have to suggest you can, on occasions, see the Port world through Rose tinted spectacles. (Even if true, that's no bad thing) Y...

The way to get to the youth of today, is image! You all may disagree, and think it's sacrilege, but it should be in mixers, and hyped up. It's died down now, but for around a year, in my area, the younger drinkers went mad for 'Cheeky Vimto's'. This was a bottle of Blue wicked mixed with a shot of P...

When your on Flicker, you need to select the photograph(that isn't jpeg). THEN you need to select all sizes. Then when you select a size and click on properties, it will be a jpeg.
I seem to recall having a similar problem when I started.

Hope it helps.

I took this in the Gaia earlier this year. It was just along from the Martinez Storage. Never worked out what it was. Had a discussion on another Forum, but no one could be sure.

Any Clues?

Ha,ha,ha!!! I'd like to think you're considering me because of my size and strength, my ability to take bigger men out, my guile and cunning, and that I'm a natural leader. But that's why I'm laughing as I type this, I know it's really because I'd get hung drawn and quartered in the end... Alan Hist...

Roy , I did indeed watch this around the time it came out, and have watched it since. I have to concur, it is a good hearty tale. There's a sting in my response, so stay with me. I can put the historical flaws to one side, its similar to leaving your brain in a bucket while you watch a James Bond m...

A famous Red Indian always refered to his wife as 'Three Horses'.

Eventually he was asked if there was a powerful story behind it.

'Not really' He said, 'It's just Nag, Nag, Nag!'

Roy , I'd say that the purists answer is any year were the House does not declare in accordance with the IVDP rules. (Still waiting for that Official list we know they keep!) I would however acknowledge the argument given that its the rare times (In fact are there any?) when a House does not declar...

That exchange between Roy and Derek had me smiling to. I used to log on an enjoy reading such things. Always felt I learned more when you two disagreed an were trying to explain your points of view! Got me quite nostalgic. (mind you, I liked your squabbles more!!!)

Just to clear up Roy's query, I haven't tasted this Port. I was talking in general terms. I love Jons plan of laying down fine Port for his Daughter. Its a common idea of Port Lovers and has a long tradition. Wasn't it the way over a century ago to buy a barrel for a Sons coming of age. I wonder whe...

Jon , It's a great year, it's a respected name, and the best price on Winesearcher over your side of the Pond is $99.95 ! I wouldn't hold to much on what people say it tastes like now, good or bad. Its a classic Port. It'll be ready when it's ready, and that will probably only start in another deca...

David , In that case, put the Warres LBV back in the cupboard/cellar for a few weeks. Its an above average Port in its catergory, but it wont hold a candle to the Dows 83. Different animals. I suspect your VP wont be a Blockbuster, but it will have the body, the mouthfeel, the silkiness of a true V...

David,

Worth a try. A very entertaining and robust drink. The price isn't outrageous, I'd guess around £10 over this side. That sort of equates. I suspect if you try a bottle, you'll then buy a couple more.
