1989 Dow Quinta do Bomfim

Post by John M. »

1.5 Hours: Deep ruby center, burnt red rim; clear. Nose is dusty dry with allspice. A bit grapish, red and dark fruity but not a bomb. Lovely finish--no tannic or acidic grip--wonderfully smooth. Seems youthful for a 25 year old port.

25 Hours: Color the same. The allspice is nose gone, just hints of grape and plum…Taste has cooked grape and hints of ripe strawberry and plum. Dry moderate finish; an elegant port.

Due to powers beyond my control I had 1/3 of a bottle I did not drink for another week (put in small bottle and put in fridge). It held up extremely well; the nose was tamped down but the taste was still elegant, smooth and offered the grape and plum nicely.

This port also had a side discussion... http://www.fortheloveofport.com/ftlopfo ... =7&t=17576
