TNR: A Quick Note on TNs (UPDATED - 8/29/16)

Post by Roy Hersh »

UPDATED BASIC RULES OF THE ROAD:

A. Please post ALL Port TNs in this section, so that we can continue to maintain the largest collectiion of Port tasting notes here on FTLOP

B. It is preferable to add your comments to tasting notes in the actual threads here in the TN Forum. This will keep things tidy and will negate the need to then "re-post" an identical thread on the main Port Forum, just for the sake of having a discussion.

D. The only photos permitted in this TN area will be either corks, labels, bottles or people at tastings that relate DIRECTLY to the TN at hand. Please keep their size appropriate/moderate.

E. If you are not sure of the "protocol" of how to list your TN appropriately, have a look at the FORMAT that others here have used. I occasionally go in and modify the TNs (TITLES ONLY) to enable consistency and an easier search. At some point we'll add these to a data base ... yes that will happen ... so please be patient. :type:

F. Please include the date (1-15-08 or 1/15/08 for January 15th 2008) which will allow us to know the date you actually drank the Port and NOT when you finally got around to posting it. Thanks!

G. If you remember to include how long the bottle had been decanted, some folks like to read that info, but it certainly is not required.

H. As of today, (Nov. 1, 2007) Andy Velebil will be in charge of moderating the TN section. If you have any questions re: this Forum, please address them to him directly.

This area will be closely monitored to ensure that the basics mentioned above, are adhered to. Thank you for making this the largest repository of Port TNs in the world!

Added March 10th 2010:

We've now incorporated a http://www.winesearcher.com feature which provides you with a single click to take you directly to pricing for the Port that is in the Tasting Note Forum. Additionally, one more click and you can land in the Tasting Note Data Base, where subscribers will see my TNs as well as all posted by FTLOP participants. Non-subscribers will not be able to view my TNs. The buttons for each are on the top of the page where each note resides in the Forum.
