2001 Dow's Quinta do Bomfim Vintage Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Got a bottle of this at Vinum, the restaurant at the Graham's Lodge in Gaia. Starting to show some secondary notes on the nose, with dried fruit, licorice, and a touch of heat (lack of decanting as it blew off later). A touch of spirit initially, which also blew off with more air, and plenty of secondary flavors one gets on a mature VP. Resolved tannins, good acid, and a medium length finish. This is drinking really well right now, as I enjoyed it quite a bit, and would make a nice cellar defender while your 2000's and 2003's continue to age. Though, I don't see this making old bones, I'd say drink up within the next 5-7 years for best results.
