1980 Warre's Vintage Port

Post by Grant H »

With my family for Canadian Thanksgiving. Very dark purple. It was opened beside a 2011 Quinta da Gricha and showed just as dark, and very purple. It did, however, smell older. The Warre smelled of dried plum and figs, and a little bit floral. Tasting it, I thought it was still quite sweet and very smooth. It gave my mouth a good coating that almost numbed my tongue. A little heat in the middle warmed up my taste buds, though, and the finish was long and sweet again. Very pleasant, and everyone at the table gave it a rave review. Decanted for 6 hours.

Hi Grant,

I had this recently and it was exactly as you've described it, with the exception that mine was not as youthful looking, but still dark ruby. It deserves more credit than it gets.
