Found this Ruby reserve at a local store for $18.00. I've had the inaugural 2006 at the Quinta as a sample, which was nothing more than Cristiano Van Zellar declassifying his 2006 VP's and turning it into this. This is the 2010 version of it, though I don't think it's simply a renamed VP anymore but I could be wrong. Tasted over two nights with similar results. Soft black fruit, with a chocolate showing up a bit later. Noticeable but tamed tannins dry out the fruit and keep it from being cloying. A moderate finish doesn't vary much from the palate. This uses a driven cork and tastes unfiltered so I suspect it's so. A nicely made Ruby Reserve Port.
