1963 Sandeman Vintage Port

Medium plus ruby color. A touch darker than most of the 1963 Vintage Ports. Intense, dusty, spicy complex nose. Very soft, red fruit palate. Medium bodied. Very ready to drink. This is a touch hot in the finish. After a bit I can see that this is VERY hot. Definitely drink up! 86 points.
My 8th place. Group 6th place.

In recent years most of my impressions have been the same except for one shining example that provided a much younger view and harkened back to when this was one of the greats of the vintage. It was my 1st Port ever consumed, early and often at a restaurant I worked at in NYC. 3 oz. pours in 1983 (at 20) were $15 back then. I was wowed by how dark this Port was back in the early to late 1980s. Nowadays it is a bottle by bottle happenstance.
