1988 Graham Quinta dos Malvedos VP

Decant: 3 Hours

Color is medium opaque (4/5 opacity), with dense dark color, fading substantially to the rim.

Nose: Christmas spices and tree, along with very pure cherry and strawberry. Despite the suggestion of the pine and Christmas spice that heat would be an issue, heat didn't stand out on the nose.

Palate: The very pure bright fruit follows through, very enjoyable though a bit monochromatic, closing with a vaguely herbal, old wooden furniture and christmas-y note. While that doesn't sound particularly exciting, and again suggests heat would be an issue, it really isn't. The port is well balanced, trending to the sweeter side, but with light grip, good acidity and integrated aguardente.

On day 2, the heat begins to stand out as youd expect with the aguardente flavors, but this is still a very enjoyable port.

At its best on day 1:
Pts: 90

Even if I wasn't born in '88, I'd buy more of this. [cheers.gif]
