1989 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Post by Paul Fountain »

This had about 6 hours in the decanter before first try and came across as quite sweet with some earthy spices. It had excellent body and mouthfeel but came across as a little one dimensional. It also finished a little short, but still provided a good amount of drinking pleasure. A day later it had held pretty much the same with no discernible deterioration. 90 points

I like this Port but it is at the point now where drinking in the near term is advisable for the reasons you mentioned and it's aging fast given the non-classic year it came from. It also is one of a few vintages of Vesuvio that have "Douro Bake" as they were initially stored up river.
