2008 Niepoort LBV Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Emergency pop-and-pour with dinner, orange chicken, after getting home late from a training bike race. Lots of fresh plums, moderate tannins, mocha on the back end, well placed acidity keeping it light on its feet, and a moderate finish. I'll come back to it later for a better assessment but right now I'm in the 89-ish point range.

Hadn't had any Niepoort LBVs until our aged LBV tasting a while back, but was impressed with them there. Think it'll be better in ten years?

There is now a mint component to it with more mocha as well. Has filled out since the pop-and-pour. It should do well over the next 10 years or so. Not sure it will get better, but different over time yes.
