Today we had the great pleasure to be hosted by Taylor’s. After we tasted the 40 year old Fonseca and Taylor’s, we had the rare opportunity to taste the 1863.
An incredible moment for me. The wine is dark brown. On the nose the wine is incredible strong and complex and you can smell burnt sugar. In the mouth I tasted black liquorish, dark caramel and thick sirup. The wine stayed in my mouth forever. 98/100
I have to say it is really really good. Never ever like somethings I tasted before, a 40 year old tawny won’t even come close. But with this style of port, you won’t drink more than 1 or 2 glasses (besides the price) it is just too dark and complex.
But an amazing experience.

The Taylor 1863 Single Harvest is the best port I tasted in 2014 (among around 250 Portwines) - in my opinion a perfect port - 20/20
