2003 Quinta do Crasto LBV
Bottled 2008. Fresh raspberry, dark fruit, chocolate, and grape stem aromas ... followed by sage and marjoram, with some peach in the background. Later, there is some raisin and fig. Slightly corked? There is some warmth in the finish, but intense fruit flavor up front--wonderful fruit. The warmth is becoming better integrated, and this is settling in to show nice balance. Still very young--drink now or hold for 10+ years. 93 points.

Some of their LBV's are as good or better than their VP's which makes them an odd duck in the Port world. Then again their table wine production is what they are really famous for so that probably accounts for something.
