Bottled in 2009. It's a very pale tea, which appears older than most at this age. The nose full of a distinct sweet tea and fig paste. The acidity on the palate pops out immediately followed by maple, baked brown sugar, honey, and tea. A lingering finish carries through from the palate and completes what is a very good Colheita. I can't recall ever having this before and I am glad I've got a couple more bottles. A wonderful young Colheita Port.

Do you think the color was influenced by the time in bottle at all? Or is that consistent with the year/wine in your experience?

I typically don't see a lot of color being dropped that fast while bottled in wood aged Ports. So I would say it happened before being bottled.Bradley Bogdan wrote:Do you think the color was influenced by the time in bottle at all? Or is that consistent with the year/wine in your experience?

1987 was an exemplary year with some excellent Ports made, both Vintage and Colheita and some LBVs too.
