S. Leonardo 10 Year Old Tawny Port -- Quinta do Mourao

Post by Andy Velebil »

Opened yet another bottle of this and very similar to the previous two (See note below). 90 Points
Bottled in 2015. For a 10 year old Tawny this is a very light brown with reddish highlights. Honeysuckle and marmalade on the nose. For a very short time it starts off with a feeling it is going to be to sweet. Then as the acidity starts to kick in it loses that sweetness as the spices, honey, and cracked pepper builds up and becomes much more prominent. There is a lot of that pepper on the lingering finish. The only minor quibble is the finish, while decent in length, loses some of that wonderful palate complexity. That is being nit-picky though as the finish, as with the rest, is above most other Tawny's in this category.

Opened another bottle and this was very similar. Only different being the finish on this bottle didn't lose they complexity on the finish. I'd upgrade to 90 points on this bottle. Just lovely
